News

I would like to share an update with my clients, which is long overdue.

Due to cancer, I underwent a below-knee amputation on December 11, 2025. Needless to say, this came as a tremendous shock and has made for a very challenging journey.

I want to sincerely thank all of my clients who have supported me in so many ways, from meals, cards, hugs, and encouraging words to contributions to the GoFundMe that my children organized to help with the lifelong costs associated with prosthetic care. Hiromoto and I have been deeply touched by your kindness, generosity, and support.

I had hoped to be back treating clients on a very limited basis by now. However, I have learned firsthand how challenging it can be to achieve a comfortable prosthetic fit. Between ongoing rehabilitation, self-care, and repeated trips to Vancouver for prosthetic adjustments, I am not yet ready to return to practice. I will provide another update when I have a clearer sense of what the future may hold. I truly miss working with my clientele.

In happier news, our daughter, son-in-law, Jake Schachter, and our two grandchildren have recently moved to Nelson. Having family close by has brought a great deal of joy and sunshine into our lives.

Jake has relocated his manual osteopathic practice from Toronto to Nelson. He is an incredibly kind and caring person whom I am fortunate to call my son-in-law, as well as a highly skilled practitioner.

While I continue my rehabilitation journey, Crystal Creek Physiotherapy Clinic is pleased to welcome Jake Schachter to the clinic.

Jake is a Manual Osteopathic Practitioner holding the M.OMSc. designation and is a member of Osteopathy Canada (OSTCAN).  Jake offers manual osteopathic services, which are distinct from physiotherapy, and is currently accepting new clients.

You can book directly with him online at https://jsosteopathy.noterro.com or learn more about what he does at jsosteopathy.ca. You can also reach out to him directly via email here with any questions or booking inquiries at:
